What is a Land Survey and do I need one?

Land surveying is the first crucial step to be carried out before land can be developed and houses, buildings, roads and tunnels can be constructed or even designed.

Land surveying employs the expertise of Licensed, professional land surveyors who evaluate a piece of land in relation to its developmental requirements, whether commercial or residential. During assessment, land surveyors analyse the land in question and produce a detailed report using maps and appropriate measurements, taking into account land features such as distances, heights and slopes. Their findings are integral to architects and builders who will then design, develop and build on site. Land surveying is carried out both on site and in the office using advanced measurement software and is necessary before settling on ideal building locations and before any support infrastructure can be determined.

A Licensed Surveyor is required if you need to:

  • know where the title boundaries of a property are
  • build on or near a title boundary
  • re-align a title boundary
  • create or remove an easement
  • subdivide land or a unit development
  • consolidate titles
  • claim title to land under adverse possession.

Our Philosophy

If we don't think it can be done
... we will tell you!

We can quickly analyze land subdivision planning proposals for compliance with the planning scheme, other relevant government legislation, practicality and general viability and present clients with options to achieve their development goals.
